Using tiny, sterile needles, our acupuncturists manipulate the nervous system to trigger a natural healing response in the body resulting in a boost for the immune system and relief from stress, pain, depression, nausea and many more conditions. The practice of Chinese medicine acupuncture originated in China before 2500 BCE and has been used for thousands of years since. After the east cultivated this ancient healing technique, it slowly made its way across the globe to be researched, studied and utilized by Western medicine.

Is acupuncture right for me?

Acupuncture can benefit nearly everyone! It helps to increase circulation, relax muscles, release tension, relieve pain, and it triggers the release of the body’s natural happiness inducing neurotransmitters called dopamine and serotonin. Even if you’re not treating an injury or a specific ailment, you can still experience the amazing benefits of acupuncture! Our practitioners specialize in treating many conditions including infertility, stress management, depression, addiction, chronic pain, digestive disorders, arthritis, neuropathy, carpal tunnel, physical injuries, trauma and PTSD, PMS, menopause, nausea, migraines, headaches and insomnia. Because acupuncture is noninvasive, it also serves as a complementary therapy, meaning you can still receive acupuncture treatments without adversely interfering with other treatments and therapies. Acupuncture can help to relieve the pain, nausea, fatigue and neuropathy caused by or associated with cancer and traditional cancer treatments. It can also complement fertility treatments by increasing circulation to reproductive organs, reducing stress, balancing the endocrine system and regulating hormone release. Additionally, acupuncture can be used as preventative care. Depending on the condition, some patients can get lasting relief through regular acupuncture treatments and avoid the requirement of an intensive corrective surgical procedure in the future. If you’re still unsure if acupuncture is right for you, contact us and one of our practitioners will be able to discuss what would be best for you based on your specific needs.

Acupuncture FAQs

Our services

  • acupuncture needles being inserted across someone's back

    Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an scientifically-backed traditional Chinese medicine practice in which thin, sterile needles are inserted into the skin to manipulate the body’s tissues and nervous system, triggering the body’s natural healing response and release of pain killing neurochemicals. This is our primary approach for healing patients with many different conditions as it has such a powerful effect on the body causing no adverse side-effects besides an occasional bruise. We also offer electroacupuncture, acupuncture with electrical stimulation. In electroacupuncture, a small electrode from an acupuncture needle stimulator machine will be attached to the needles. An electrical current will run through the electrode into the needles to more effectively stimulate the nerves and heal the area. This can be helpful for healing more stubborn injuries, muscle spasms, and relieving pain.

  • woman with two tuning forks being applied to her shoulder area

    Acupressure

Acupressure is an ancient form of massage that involves using a metal vibrational tool called a “tuning fork” on pressure points to simulate the same effect acupuncture needles would have on the body. A small hammer is tapped on the end of the tuning fork to cause a vibration that stimulates the acupoint like a needle would. This service is a great alternative for those who have a fear of needles and want to experience the benefits of acupuncture.

  • vacuum suction cups being placed on a person's back

    Cupping Therapy

Cupping is another traditional Chinese medicine healing therapy in which suction cups are placed on the body to draw blood to an affected area and promote faster healing, relieve muscle tension, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and increase blood circulation. Provides a similar sensation to a deep tissue massage. Our clinic offers fire or ventosa cupping, vacuum cupping and wet or hijama cupping.

  • woman being gently massaged on the neck area

    Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a noninvasive, gentle hands-on approach to healing in which the practitioner examines the membranes and movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system to find where the body is holding tension. Using a gentle massage technique, the practitioner manipulates the tissues and joints to promote the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, relieving pain, stress and dysfunction.

  • practitioner hovering hands over a patient lying down

    Reiki Therapy

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing in which the practitioner guides the gentle flow of energy throughout the body using slow hand movements to facilitate a healing process. The practitioner channels some of their own energy from their palms to the patient and by doing so, the body can be brought back to a state of equilibrium and tranquility.

  • woman lying face up with stones placed on her forehead and chest

    Chakra Balancing

This is another form of energy healing that originated in India in which the practitioner restores balance to the body’s energy centers by clearing blockages or imbalances in the 7 chakras using a combination of gentle massage techniques, energy guiding hand movements, breathing exercises, essential oils, and healing crystals. This practice leaves the patient feeling reinvigorated, peaceful, and grounded.

  • black gua sha stone on a marble countertop

    Gua Sha

This service is a treatment add-on.

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine practice in which a practitioner uses a smooth edged tool made of minerals such as jade, obsidian, quartz or bian stone to massage the inflamed area to open up the fascia, break up stagnant qi and promote circulation and lymphatic drainage. This is done by using downward scraping motions over the area and gradually increasing pressure with each repetition. Traditional body gua sha is most commonly done on areas like the back, legs, and arms. You may have seen people in the cosmetic community using gua sha or jade rollers for facial massage, however it’s much more gentle when used on the face. It’s popularity for cosmetic benefits is quickly increasing as it can create a more sculpted, skin tightening look by draining excess fluid from the face and neck and reducing puffiness.

  • woman lying face down getting a massage on her upper back

    Tui Na Massage

This service is a treatment add-on.

Tui Na, or tuina, is a type of traditional Chinese massage that involves kneading, gliding, pulling, and pressing the area to loosen stiff muscles, increase circulation, and release the build up of lactic acid in the muscles. The practitioner may use certain pressure points to strategically release tension in the body. Pressure may vary based on the patient’s comfortability. Patients experiencing tightness, soreness, stiffness, muscle spasms, joint pain and muscle knots would benefit from this therapeutic massage.
